About Xo
Hi! I’m a systems and graphics software engineer by day, robot and motorcycle overengineer by night (also by day).
Previously at Shaper Tools (2024–2025), I led the software team working on the Origin augmented reality robotic CNC router, shipping the BenchPilot robot. At Google (2013–2022), I worked on Fuchsia, virtual reality graphics, and various datacenter and Linux kernel projects. You might also know me from Apple, Solid Angle (Autodesk Arnold), and/or Georgia Tech’s Invention Studio.
I’ve also appeared on the BattleBots TV show and—unrelated to that—co-received an Emmy Award (for technical achievement with the Arnold team).
My projects involve, in no particular order:
- exploding circuit boards 💥
- pushing many pixels 🎞️
- bringing machines to life 🦿
- approximately two 🏍️…
- …wheels ⚡️
- this website, built from scratch using Eleventy ☁️
- reducing latency ⌛️
- almost as many bolts 🔩 as bytes 💾 and wires ⚗️, and often ≥1 matrix 🧮
- way more rigor than anyone asked for, except in the parts that solve problems (unless you're paying me to do it, in which case I will happily
underdeliver the right amount so we can ship)
I can usually tell that I’ve finished a project when I end up with more unfinished projects than when I started.
